Message to Educators

Welcome, educators! You are an integral part of a child's social and
intellectual development. The StoryBus program is a wonderful opportunity
for you to provide your students with a fun and informative learning
process. The program works in conjunction with you to make the experience
the best it can be for the students. We have a great group of educators who
are currently a part of the program and we are always excited to have new
schools and centers sign up to engage their preschool and kindergarten
children.
As a participant of the StoryBus program, your class will develop their
early literacy skills through fun activities, all of which tie into a single
story. By centering on a single, familiar story throughout the semester, you
'll intensify the experience for your students. This is intended to help the
children better recall the lessons. Everything ties together in a way they
can understand-a way that helps them to develop their critical-thinking
skills.
It's also more enjoyable for the children. Just as they get excited about
playing the same game over and over, they become excited by the repetition
of weaving the same story into their activities throughout the semester. It
makes all aspects of learning particularly memorable, whether it is reading
the story, writing alternate story endings, counting cups of flour to make
the Red Hen's bread, mapping the Gingerbread Man's route, or developing
internal personal skills by problem-solving how the Wolf could become
friends with the Pigs.
The StoryBus itself will also visit a public venue in your neighborhood one
weekend each semester. Encourage your parents to bring their children-it's a
great culminating event, and a great opportunity for your parents to learn
activities they can do at home to help their children develop their early
literacy skills!
The StoryBus is just waiting to educate and inspire you! Please contact us
if you'd like to bring the StoryBus program to your school, center, library
or community event.
